Shallotte, NC – ATMC announced today that it is rebranding itself and will begin doing business as FOCUS Broadband at the start of the new year. The change in name is being made to reflect the company’s evolution from that of a traditional telephone and cable TV provider to one that specializes in providing fiber optic delivered, high-speed internet service. The rebranding also coincides with the launch of a multi-year project that will connect all members to fiber optic broadband along with further expansion into new markets in southeastern North Carolina.
“We believe FOCUS Broadband is a more accurate reflection of what our company is becoming as we expand our reach using fiber optic broadband as our core service offering,’” said Keith Holden, CEO. The rebranding to FOCUS Broadband comes on the heels of a recent major announcement where the company will soon begin a multi-year, $100 million dollar construction project that will replace its copper and coaxial networks within its Brunswick County service area with a new 100% FOCUS fiber optic network. Once completed the company’s entire footprint will be served by fiber optics.
ATMC was founded in 1955 as a cooperative to bring telephone service to rural areas of Brunswick County, North Carolina that were unserved. In 2010, the company expanded its service into portions of eastern Columbus County. More recently the company has won state and federal grants that are enabling it to bring high-speed internet service to thousands of additional homes in Columbus County as well as underserved rural areas in Duplin, Pender, and Robeson counties.
FOCUS Broadband will continue to operate as a cooperative in the Brunswick County areas of Calabash, Carolina Shores, Ocean Isle Beach, Sunset Beach, Holden Beach, Town Creek, Boiling Spring Lakes, Supply, and Shallotte. And while the name is changing, members can expect the company to deliver the same award-winning level of customer service to which they have become accustomed. “No matter how much growth we experience, or what services we offer, we will continue to hold true to the values we were founded upon and give our members and customers a level of service that is second to none,” added Holden.
Along with the new name, the company will adopt a new logo and will change its corporate web address from www.atmc.com to www.FOCUSBroadband.com. Additional updates regarding the change to the new name will be provided to customers and business partners in the coming weeks.
